There has been a Warzone nuke event in the rumor mill for months now, ever since a literal nuke was discovered inside one of the Warzone bunkers. Unfortunately, despite the nuke being found so long ago, there have been no developments surrounding what this could mean for Call of Duty Warzone... until now. The Warzone nuke event could be happening very soon – here's everything you need to know.
Above, you can see an image of the Warzone nuke inside bunker 11. The question is, what's going to happen with the event? Back before Black Ops Cold War released, the rumor was that the nuke will detonate and obliterate Verdansk with either a vastly different landscape taking its place, or a new map entirely.
We're in 2021 now and the rumor is back at full strength, as people are speculating the nuke will once again remove Verdansk from the map. Literally. The thinking is that after the Outbreak event in Warzone, the zombies will flood the rest of the map and leave detonating the nuke as the only option.
When will all this happen? There's no confirmed date for the Warzone nuke event – heck, it hasn't even been officially announced yet – but people are expecting it to take place in April.
Whether the Warzone nuke event will remove Verdansk entirely from the game is yet to be seen. Fortnite is another battle royale that replaced the entire map, but some places of interest migrated to the new map, while PUBG added new maps into the rotation but kept the old ones available to play. Of course, this could all be speculation and there's no new map inbound at all, but at this point in the lifecycle of the game, something needs to be done to keep it feeling fresh.
