Those Who Remain - Horror game Review

May 27th, 2020

Those Who Remain is a survival horror puzzle game. You imagine yourself in an unknown city where all vague mysterious things happen and the inhabitants have completely changed into mindless monsters that can only walk in the dark. Sound freaky or not?

The story The story is about a village where the inhabitants have turned into demons with luminous eyes. The demons chase you everywhere and can kill you by touching it once. There are more than 100 demons and they hunt you down as said. However, they have a major flaw. They cannot touch you when you are in the light. So the goal is to find a way each time to turn on the light to keep the demons at bay. those who remain 2

The gameplay The gameplay mainly consists of exploring and solving puzzles. The puzzles can sometimes be really tough where you sometimes really pull the hair out of your head because you have no idea where to look or how to approach it. You solve puzzles by going into a different dimension each time. There you can open certain doors and locks and then you have to come back to your own dimension. It's a bit like poltergeist. However, the annoying thing is that in some levels there are 40 lockers, and you have to each one to find the right puzzle piece. Things like this take the pace out of the game and I personally find it a shame. In addition, the mechanics are not very good either, it sometimes plays very rough. THOSE WHO REMAIN 3

The conclusion The concept is great, and I think they can make a nice TV series out of it themselves. Only for a game it is not well developed, the graphics are mediocre but if you know that it was made by an indie company then it is not too bad. However, the stiff gameplay unfortunately makes it difficult to play the game several times. It gets a 6.5 from us
